How it works:

The Psychological Evaluations Process:

If you’re seeking a psychological evaluation, you are most likely doing so at the request of your fertility clinic, surrogacy agency, or fertility provider for consideration to be an egg/sperm/gamete donor or gestational carrier. This service includes a clinical interview, psychological testing and is a preliminary screening that allows the donor/gestational carrier a safe space to explore demands, stressors, and other areas of concern associated with donation/surrogacy.

This process is different in nature from the therapeutic one as it is often a singular session which includes a clinical interview and personality testing. The results of this session will include recommendations and a summary that you will mostly likely want shared with your referring provider (upon completion of a voluntary release of information form). This session will take between 2-3 consecutive hours to complete.

The Psychological Consultation Process:

If you’re an individual or couple donor recipient seeking to build your family through means of assisted reproductive technology (ART) a consultation is often recommended as part of the medical process. This consult session includes; a clinical interview; completion and review of brief emotional / behavioral assessment tools; psycho-education regarding the mental health implications of becoming donor recipients; clinical decision making; and a summary with clinical recommendations that you will most likely want shared with your referring provider (upon completion of a voluntary release of information form). This consult is different than traditional therapy in that it is often a singular session. This session will take 1 1/2 to 2 hours to complete.
